If Kdot were to never release another album where does he stand in the GOAT conversation?
If you ask me I say he stands to do pretty DAMN well with or without any new verses from Kung Fu Kenny
Let’s look at his stat sheet so far
Kendrick has 4 studio albums to date (Section .80, GOOD KID: mad city, To Pimp a Butterfly, and DAMN) a compilation album (Untitled Unmastered) , 5 mixtapes ( most notable Overly Dedicated, but also C4, No Sleep til NYC, Training Day, YHNIC)
The soundtrack to one of the biggest movies of all time (Black Panther)
Has released or been featured on 44 singles
He is one of the most dissected, bumped, and studied lyricists of this or any generation, he has engaged in fiery bars with the entire industry forever changing the
rap landscape with his now infamous Control Verse
His album To Pimp a Butterfly is one of the most artistically dense and beautiful collections in the whole hip hop genre now becoming the subject of English courses across this country and others, DAMN proved Kenny has hits with HUMBLE
becoming his first number one, followed by radio smashes LOVE the Rihanna laced track LOYALTY, the hip hop acrobatics of DNA still get me hype!
Even GOOD KID has become the longest charting rap album of all time staying on the charts for 400 weeks! That’s 7 years on the charts!
What are some arguments that would keep out of the conversation? One could argue that K.Dot hasn’t been as dynamic a leader of artists. He’s more of an Iron Man to TDE’s Avenger like quality, Schoolboy Q rocking out as the witty and powerful Thor, Jay Rock that classic Captain America of hip hop also Jay Rock is dope check out his last album! And then Ab Soul whose hair could be scarlet with but has also been able to Hulk out on tracks through the years, all are great together but at the end of the day KDot is the one to snap his fingers
But if he is truly snapping out of the game, how will you remember Cornrow Kenny
